Long sessions are easier when you arrive rested, fed and comfortable. You do not need special equipment; you need enough energy, accessible clothing and permission to ask for breaks.
The day before
Get a good night's sleep — aim for eight hours — and hydrate well in the 24 hours before your appointment. Avoid alcohol entirely for at least 24 hours beforehand, and ideally 48 hours for long sittings, since it thins the blood and increases bleeding. Eat a proper balanced meal in the 2–3 hours before you arrive. Do not change medication or stop prescribed treatment without speaking to your doctor; tell the studio about anything relevant to the appointment.
What to bring
Wear loose layers that give access to the placement and can protect the tattoo on the way home. Bring water, a meal or snacks, headphones if they help you settle and a charger. Keep valuables to a minimum and leave enough travel time.
During the session
Eat before you feel hungry, keep communicating and ask for a pause before discomfort becomes overwhelming. Staying still helps the artist work accurately, but you are allowed to adjust your position and explain when you need a moment.
After a long appointment, plan a quiet evening. Follow the studio's aftercare instructions and avoid booking a demanding activity immediately afterwards.
